Masterpiece Sculpture! Museum quality Piece!
Ashevak Adla's majestic sculpture is one of the single best Walking bears that you will ever see.
In my opinion, it is extremely rare to see such deep and uniform black marble freckled with medium green and gray flecks.
Indeed, it is likely that you will never see the beauty of this black bear again.
In my last decade as a curator of Inuit art, I have had only two black bears of this calibre in the gallery.
The deep inky stone is finished with a pristine mirror shine. The effect is magical. Every curve and angle of our Bear shimmers!
I LOVE our Bear's large and rounded rump. I can see his back side sway from side to side as he lumbers into the forest. He is plump and well fed. Ready for hibernation perhaps.
This is where it gets interesting.
The front of the bear is a bit more angular.than the back end. Adla transitions from a realistic hind end to a head and neck that has a more modern look.
The effect is that the bear is both traditional and modern. The artist is drawing upon principles of design that are perhaps more unconventional and advanced.
Suddenly, our definition of the "perfect" bear is challenged.
Adla gently nudges the viewer to rethink their concept of an Inuit bear sculpture.
Ashevak is one of the world's top Inuit carvers especially for large bears.
This Adla bear will be the superstar of your collection.
