Inuit art: Caribou
Inuit Artist: Peter Aningmiuq
Size: 8.25" long, 4.5" tall (5" antlers), 2" deep
Community: Kimmirut, NU 20
Stone: Serpentine & Caribou Antler
I have never seen such a remarkable set of antlers on an Inuit sculpture.
Instead of the expected delicate branching antlers, these ones have large "teeth" like a hacksaw.
Peter has also given Hacksaw"s antlers two linear "branches" joined on one end so that they form a U shape.
The result is a modern industrial look caribou sculpture.
Hacksaw's bode is carved in a primitve style with blunted angles.
Hacksaw is an extraordinary combination of realisism with a tiny touch of a modern flair.
The black stone is the perfect colour to show off the antlers!
Hacksaw is incomparable.
He would be an incredible addition to your home, vacation property or office.
