Masterpiece Sculpture!

Kelly Etidloie is a respected and recognized carver from Cape Dorset.

Kelly's birds are intriguing. They have a distinct wild demeanour. The open beak suggests the bird is hissing a warning.

The wings are usually fully extended as if the bird is ready to attack you with its flapping wings.

I sense that these birds are aggressive BUT also proud.  Very Alpha-like.

This particular bird is magnificent. The carmel coloured stone imparts a Realism to the sculpture. Its hard to accept that this carving is not a living creature.

The neck is fully extended in a somewhat awkward position. I realize that in the picture the neck and head is difficult to see because they overlap the top of the extended left wing.

The neck and head seem to have disappeared!

I assure you. This  is NOT a headless bird.

Look closely, The superior border of the left wing is the head and neck.

It  is easy to identify a Kelly Etidloie sculpture.

He has a signature style which is dramatic and bold just like this gorgeous goose.
