Inuit art: Inukshuk with Eagle
Size: 9" tall, 2" deep, 4" wide
Community: Sanikiluaq, NU
Stone: Argillite
Inuit Artist:  Josie Ohaytook

This is a beautiful eagle on an Inukshuk by Josie Ohaytook. It is made with a dramatic dark argillite stone. The bald eagle has beautiful striking etch marks to show off its head and feathers. This detail gives depth and excitement to the carving as the white head and feathers contrast beautifully against the dark argillite stone of the Inukshuk.

The Inukshuk itself is quite large and impressive. It makes a wonderful centerpiece for any home. The Inukshuk has beautiful grain waves creating a flow of textures against the stone.  What immediately caught my eye when seeing this piece for the first time is the fact that it is an actual eagle resting on the top of an Inukshuk. It is not just an ordinary Inukshuk I typically see as this one is a beautiful double composition.
