Image result for kupapik ningeocheak inuitCurious  Owl has a dual personality. It is rudimentary but at the same time urbane.
Ningeocheak’s ability to carve complexity into Curious Owl is a reflection of his exceptional talent.

This sculpture can be construed as both traditional and contemporary.
The owl is simple in its lines, with minimal detail. The feet and tail feathers are square and chunky.  The robust round head, small piercing eyes and flat beak infer a stout hardiness to this creature. The mottled moss green stone imbues softness and a sense of ancient history to the bird.  This is a stoic masterpiece.

Ningeocheak’s experimentation and his diverse subject matter has made him Coral Harbour’s greatest and most respected carver. His reputation has helped establish this community as a prominent region for this particular style of carving.

Curious Owl would be a perfect Christmas gift for both an experienced collector or for a teenager or young adult who is passionate about animal conservation.
