Curious  Owl has a dual personality.

Rudimentary but at the same time cultured.

Owl is both traditional and contemporary.

This is one of the intriguing things about Inuit art.  Many of the sculptures have this uncanny ability to fit into a classic and traditional setting and just as easily find a home in a modern setting.

Ningeocheak has carved Owl using minimal detail and simple lines. The feet and tail feathers are square and chunky.

This raptor is stout and sturdy. He has to be powerful to rip apart his prey.

I find his face beguiling,  The wide open eyes and high rounded forehead suggest that this bird is young and curious. There is an energy to this sculpture that is contagious.

Ningeocheak is recognized as being experimental and diverse in his subject matter.
His carving style and his ingenuity has made him one of my essential artists.

Curious Owl would be a perfect gift for an experienced collector looking for a change or for a teenager or young adult who is passionate about animal conservation.
