The face of this Pudlat bear is exquisite.

The eyes are fastidiously carved.  Small bears often have eyes that are scratched into the stone.  But these eyes are complex with eyelids and an iris.  The eyes are narrow and slightly angled. Is this a sleepy bear who can barely keep his eyes open OR is he narrowing his eyes as he searches for food?

In addition to the spectacular eyes, this bear has an open mouth.  Yes. Many small bears have a well defined mouth and snout but carving an open mouth takes more time and effort when the carving is diminutive.

What this tells me about David Pudlat, is that he is thorough, and diligent. I suspect he is a perfectionist.

What I know is that Pudlat is a talented and skilled artist.  This majestic bear is proof.
