This is a monumental piece done in a stone that I rarely get a chance to see. The rich copper brown stone is the cornerstone of this magnificent work by Pootoogook.
Both the vibrancy and purity of the stone create a tenuous dilemma from within; though the overall intensity allows certain compromise from both.
In parallel qualities to the opulent stone, the movement and balance are exquisitely captivating. Carved with great skill and refinement, this sculpture brings to mind the work of Nunavut masters Nuna Parr, and Isaaci Petaulassie.
