Masterpiece Sculpture!  Museum Quality Piece!

Toonoo Sharkey is a major carving talent in the Inuit art world.

His reputation is international. His sculptures are immediately recognizable as a "Toonoo" piece.

This precocious talent began carving at the tender age of ten and entered his first art exhibition while in his teens!

Crash Landing is proof of Toonoo’s masterful carving.

This majestic bird should be confident and powerful but like all of us, there are these moments when we feel awkward and we tentatively seek balance.

We are not quite sure where to place our foot. If we don't get this right, we are going to lose our balance and crash land.

This is how Toonoo carves ideas into his pieces.

In Crash Landing, he is exploring the nature of conflict.

Toonoo has chosen a deep luscious dark green/ black stone for this piece,

This is a departure from his usual earthy colour palette.

The electricity  in this piece is palpable.

Indeed, the extensive network of fine light colored veins within the serpentine stone, vibrates and dances like an electrical storm on a hot summer night!

I love Crash Landing because who hasn't had those days when you feel out of sorts and constantly knocked off balance.

No one is invincible!

No doubt, any viewer lucky enough to include this Bird Spirit in their art collection, will be the envy of their peers!
