Masterpiece Carving! Traditional Inuit Life!
The admiration level is sky high for carvers who take on the challenge of Inuit life vignettes.
The multiple pieces, the small sizes and the story telling is inspirational.
Kolola's HAVE A GOOD DAY is captivating.
He keeps the viewer glued to the sculpture, searching the nooks and crannies, admiring the skill of the carving and creating the story in their minds.
There are multiple colours with just enough contrast to excite your visual brain.
The traditional way of Inuit life when Igloos were the main shelter and dog teams were the mode of travel is almost completely gone.
The dogs have been replaced with Skidoos, and the housing is constructed of wood or summer tents.
Born in 1930, Kolola may have lived in an Igloo when he was a child.
Every Inuit collection would benefit from having at least one Vignette sculpture.
You could make that happen with this stunning piece.
