Emerald is a young bear.....
He doesn't stray far from his mother and siblings.
But each day, he ventures out on the ice, a little farther, for a longer period of time.
He scents the cold Arctic wind.
Today, there is no impending danger.
In a few years, Emerald will have grown into the largest, most aggressive land mammal in the Arctic.
But for now, he enjoys the sun on his face and sleeping with his brothers on the ice, while their mother stands guard.
