Esau drove his skidoo for two days in order to get this brilliant white stone from the quarry (near Igloolik)
His dangerous journey was fraught with obstacles like blizzards, white outs, roaming polar bears and broken ice.
Esau is one of my favourite carvers.
He is talented and innovative.
COPY CAT is a winsome vignette of a Mother polar bear cavorting with her cub.
All good mothers, human or animal, use play to teach their children skills and "life lessons".
Mother Bear is teaching her cub to copy her movements.
Both bears are holding up their left paws.
The cub is learning obedience and a physical skill while he is having fun.
The two bears are "embroidered" with etchings of Arctic animals and birds.
This is Esau's SIGNATURE.
The matte finish of the white stone shows of the magnificent motifs on the bodies of the Two bears.
This beautiful Sculpture will be a shining treasure in your collection!
