Clayton Keknek’s transformation spirits are like RUBIK CUBES.
You turn the piece over and over looking for a familiar face, foot or arm!
At first glance, you are confused BUT then you discover the hidden happy spirits within.
Clayton uses the iconic Gjoa Haven black soapstone which contains flecks of white and occasionally some light green or copper.
He carves black stripes into the stone which mimics the stripes of a snake or a reptile.
Transformations have heads, flippers. maybe arms and a tail.
But in all this muddle, is a charming primitive creature making his way in this world.
The unique factor of this piece is 10 out of 10.
Every collection benefits from a carving that is unconventional and unexpected.
This could be that piece for you..
