Yupik carver Harrison Miklahook Jr. is an exceptionally talented artist who lives on St Lawrence Island, Alaska.

This Island is the most western of the Aleution Islands between Alaska and Russia.

In fact, you can see Russia with the naked eye from Harrison's home.

Harrison uses baleen, whalebone, ivory and fossilized ivory to carve his incredible selection of birds and mammals.

SCOUT is an exceptional art piece.

He is 6" tall but you would think he was a large bear.

The posture of Scout, with his front legs hanging down as the bear starts to stand, is a position which is rare in Inuit art.

The polar bear looks into the distance, with intelligence and wisdom.

The fossilized ivory has a soft satin finish which is magnificent.
