Masterpiece Sculpture! Museum quality Carving!

I am always astonished with the calibre of the Inuit Caribou carvings.

The majestic antlers are often breathtaking in their intricacy.

Next to the antlers, the four long (and often gangly) legs are the most obvious feature of the caribou.

They are prone to breaking during the carving process because they are slim and must hold the weight of the animal.

But this delicate feature are usually magnificent in their details.

The angles of the joints, the leg tapering into the hoof, the joining of the leg to the to the body; here is where the chaff is separated from the wheat!

ON BENDED KNEE is a superb Caribou.

I love the stance Isaaci used to position this piece.

The front legs are "knees flexed and slightly apart" like a football line backer preparing to meet the onslaught of players who are determined to stop him!

Look at Knee's hind end!

Rounded, muscular with tail up.

Exquisite!
