Museum Quality Sculpture by late Sangani Osuitok!

The colour is the first thing that attracted me to this sculpture. Very rare yellowish soft green, almost white in some parts.

Beautiful details (feathers, beak, eyes, claws), every inch is refined to perfection.

This is one of the last Sangani's sculpture (possibly the last one), dated by the artist on the bottom - 2011. Sangani is now deceased.

Signed in Inuktitut on the bottom, comes with igloo tag.

Sangani Osuitok (1961 - 2011 )

Sangani was born in Cape Dorset and has lived there all his life. He was raised in a family of Cape Dorset artists. His father, Osuitok Ipeelee and brother Tuqiqi are well known carvers, as was his mother, the late Nipisha Osuitok. Sangani began carving around 1967, and can recall selling his first piece to Terry Ryan of the Cape Dorset Co-op. He has said that he enjoys carving, and although he is self-taught, he has also learned a lot by watching his father.
