This is a fine example of Shaa verging on the abstract. His road towards abstraction is via the streamlining of body and shape while maintaining the essential bearlike character of the object; its power, its ferocity, its bulk. When working on a small scale, Shaa achieves this by exaggerating the bulkiness of the forms as well as the dramatic etchings which render the fur.
The elongated neck, compressing the torso into the realm of abstract, is a deliberate exaggeration by the artist to create further exhilaration.
This is also a rather large piece, a perfect showcase for any room. It truly deserves its own podium or table.
