This is a monumental piece done in a stone that I rarely get a chance to see. The rich black marble rock is the cornerstone of this magnificent work by Pootoogook. The stance on either legs makes this a remarkable craft.

Both the vibrancy and purity of the black marble stone create a tenuous dilemma from within, though the overall intensity allows certain compromise from both.

In parallel qualities to the opulent stone, the movement and balance are exquisitely captivating. Carved with great skill and refinement, this sculpture brings to mind the work of Nunavut masters Nuna Parr and Isaaci Petaulassie.
