Inuit art: Bear & Seal
Inuit Artist: Sandy Oolamik
Size: 8.5" long, 3" high, 4" wide, 2.5 lbs.
Seal alone is 3" long, bear - 5" long.
Community: Baker Lake, NU
Stone: Serpentine and marble
This is a gorgeous piece done in two different sets of stone. The bear is made with a beautiful white marble and the seal is made with a striking dark serpentine stone. The collage of the two stones makes this an electrifying and unique piece.
I really like the style of this piece as it carries a very positive aura. The overall proportions and lines of this piece are incredible. Moreover, this piece was done by one of the few female Inuit artists who are active today.
