This is a unique and gorgeous walking bear by the acclaimed Inuit artist late Peter Parr (son of Nuna Parr) from Cape Dorset.
One of the last dancing bears by him, possibly the last one. Here is the tragic story that occurred with the late Peter Parr. CBC - Peter Parr.
The stone is something of a rarity. I have never seen this type of velvety white stone before. It is very smooth and refined and has zero inclinations or veins. The white stone really makes this piece stand out from most others I've seen.
I have always been drawn to carvings done in this specific colour as it illuminates its entire surroundings and your audience will immediately take notice when entering the room.
The overall composition is very dynamic and lively. It is polished to perfection with a high gloss effect as well as immaculate and crisp proportions. This is as nice as they come for walking bears as it is a classic Peter Parr bear.
It it carved beautifully and stands with much grace.
It comes with an Igloo Tag (Certified of Authenticity), signed on the bottom both.
This is a really beautiful carving, and will be a centre piece of your collection.
