7" Loon Protecting Her Nest by Isaac Panigayak
is on back order
Inuit art: Loon Protecting Her Nest
Inuit Artist: Isaac Panigayak (1950 - )
Size: 7" long, 2.25" high, 3" wide
Community: Taloyoak (Spence Bay)
This work's poignancy can be partly explained by its relative rawness in the sense that it resembles some of the great emotive sculptures created by artists from the isolated community of Taloyoak.
The tenuous embroidery of feathers, atomic proportions and exquisite beauty have allowed Panigayak's loons to be celebrated among the avant garde circles of Inuit art. Solo works and publications by him have been adopted and praised worldwide.
This piece is signed in Inuktitut on the bottom of the bird and comes with an igloo tag.
