Inuit art: Walking Bear
Inuit Artist: Tim (Timothy) Pee
Size: 6.5" long, 6" high, 3" wide
Community: Cape Dorset, NU
Just as the name Henry Evaluardjuk became synonymous with wonderful walking bears, Tim Pee's name is eponymous with the sleek, striding variety.
This beautiful carving was obviously created by an artist who carefully observed his animal subjects and loved them. Despite being carved from a large sized heavy stone, this work carries a lightness of spirit.
Pee's bears have a sense of refinement and detail that puts his work at a higher standard than all other walking bears in this class.
His bears are always incredibly graceful and have a positive peaceful look which are both trade-marks of Tim Pee's bears.
The reflection, polish and shine are divine. The proportions are perfect and have a wondrous sense of realism.
