is on back order
Inuit Art: Muskox
Artist: Lukassie Ikkidluaq (Ikkidluak)
Dimensions: 17" long, 8" high, 6" wide. Weight: 29 lbs
This is a series of two muskox by one of the most famous Inuit artists in the world. Lucassie Ikkidluak rarely carves anymore. For health reasons, and the strain it puts on his joints with arthritis, Lucassie has limited himself to only making two muskox this year. He says these will probably be the last ones he ever makes.
This particular muskox is within a series of two large muskox that I acquired from him recently. It is one of the largest muskox he has ever attempted. In my opinion, it is also one of the nicest. The beautiful hump, the symmetry, detail and flow of the piece render this as a museum artifact.
It is large. Proportions are perfect. The stone is perfect. The symmetry is perfect. There are absolutely no defects in this piece. It is a perfect muskox, and it is one of his largest ever. I was lucky enough to be the only one in the entire world to get it.
This is a museum quality piece. Lucassie Ikkidluak does not carve anymore. I was able to obtain this piece from another gallery who decided to close down.
For the avid collectors, the line up to acquire one of Lucassie's Muskox is immense. His muskox are one of the most in demand carvings in the world. This piece will be worth double in less then 5 years from now at any auction.
This muskox in particular is not only made by world famous Lucassie Ikkidluak, it is also this style of Muskox that have toured all over the world through international Inuit are exhibitions and fairs.
For a gallery to obtain one, it takes about a year for waiting. Acquiring a Lucassie Muskox is not only a rare find, it is a real investment. When Lucassie retires from carving, any Muskox by him will be worth double in value overnight.
