This is one of the most prolific and dramatic birds I have seen in a very long time. The tenuous and translucent cuts of the wing tips allow this piece to transcend in such a way that it is ready to lift off.

It is masterfully balancing on a 15º angle. The movements, disposition and flare are paramount. The dark green stone is riveting in texture and finish.

There are numerous bird carvings from Cape Dorset to look at. What makes one work stand out from the rest? In this case, it is the overall embodiment and finesse of the stone as well as the face of the bird. Specifically the eyes; they are absolutely riveting.

The sculpture is signed by the artist in Inuktitut and comes with an igloo tag.
