Museum quality sculpture!
In this sublime setting of electric white marble stone, Mathewsie Ashevak, grandson of late Kenojuak Ashevak, achieves an exquisite drum dancer with several parallels in the Cape Dorset stone carving style; it demonstrates the extraordinary carving bravura of this extremely young talented artist. Not only is this work exceptional in its degree of openwork carving and detail, it is also highly expressive and energetic.
This is a fantastic world class centrepiece. The lines and curvatures are absolutely perfect. The warmth of the white stone transcends a peaceful sentiment to its immediate surroundings.
This piece is so fluid that the movements alone almost want to make it jump. This is a beautiful and elegant centre piece for our art gallery.
This piece is signed on the bottom and comes with an igloo tag.
