Note**  It is very probable that these are Ashevak Tunnillie’s last available bears. Tunnillie has recently passed away and has left the Inuit Art world with his spirit.

The heart of a bear is its power, bulk and ferocity. This is a fine example of how Tunnillie streamlines the shape of the bear’s body into an abstract form but never loses the essential “bearness” of the sculpture.

Tunnillie exaggerates the bulkiness of the body in order to achieve the quintessential bear spirit. Then he elongates the bear’s neck and shortens the torso so it appears compressed but extraordinarily powerful and somewhat threatening.

The sweet caramel marble softens the hard edges of this  determined bear.  He strides toward his destination, with the knowledge that few of his Arctic neighbours will try to deter him.

Ashevak is an internationally prized Inuit artist. Just as Henry Evaluardjuk is synonymous with wonderful walking bears, the name Ashevak Tunnillie embodies the magnificence of sleek striding bears.

Owning this piece would be priceless. As Tunnillie’s pieces become increasingly rare, their value will appreciate tremendously.

Do not miss this phenomenal opportunity to include Tunnillie’s bear in your Inuit art collection.

This carving is new and comes with the Igloo tag of authenticity.
