Its core intonation is comprised of its rustic white surfacing. Its bleak honesty and realistic portrayal of the polar bears desperate fight for survival is at the heart of this masterpiece. It has been rendered into a composition that can only be achieved by a master carver.

Once or twice a year, we receive a carving that is quite frankly - Special. For 2018, this one made the list. The astonishing features on this bear make this nothing short of museum worthy.

The movement, the stone, the finish, the carved fur and everything else about this piece all encapsulate it as a masterpiece period.

What especially attracts us to this piece is its highly realistic visage. This is by far one of my favourite pieces in the gallery.

This carving comes from one of the most remote communities in the Northern hemisphere. Sculptures from here rarely get made.
