This is a storied piece of a young generation Inuk tape recording his elder's traditional folk music. I have never seen a piece like this before. This carving caught my attention right away for not only the gorgeous polish and colour, crisp lines and detail, but the story it tells as well. This is a nothing short of a museum piece.

Pootoogook Jaw has established himself as one of the premier artists for human figures and themes.

Some of the greatest works of Inuit sculpture defy analysis, and sometimes the adjectives actually seem to contradict one another. How can a sculpture have a commanding presence and yet also be genuinely winsome? This piece is sure to look stunning as a centrepiece for any room or gallery.
