This is part of a series of two stunning muskoxen recently rendered by the master himself; Joamie Aipeelee.
In this intriguingly ambiguous work, Aipeelee brilliantly fuses surface texture and form into this piece. He proves that texture does not need to be applied simply as decoration or as "realistic detail". When applied wisely it can become an integral element of the form in itself. The result is an almost heraldic composition.
The intensified dark stone with green fusion serpentine stone not only highlights but contrasts beautifully against the off-white eyes and horns. This brings to life the muskox which illuminates its immediate surroundings.
This stunning sculpture comes with an Igloo Tag (Certified of Authenticity) and is also signed by the artist.
