Note** In the last year, we have acquired two large (>24”) polar bear sculptures from Master Carver Paul Maliki.
As you look at these pieces, you know beyond a doubt, that this is an artist at the peak of his career. It is almost unfathomable that one man could have so much talent. Please recognize that you are viewing pure genius.

All collectors will tell you that when you fall in love with art, it happens in an instant.

In that brief moment, you are awestruck; completely mesmerized with your object of desire.

Your fascination with the piece never wavers.

Your commitment to the carving is 100%.

At first, it’s the questions that come to mind.

For me, I couldn’t take my eyes away from the mouth of the adult bear.

How was Maliki able to carve the delicate details of the mouth?
How was he able to capture the bear’s fierce defensive stance as it defends its offspring?

The questions swirl in my head.

And THEN, the emotions take hold.

You are slightly intimidated by the physical size of this large bear, but at the same time, you feel respect for its majesty and nobility.

The bear’s menacing posture toward the unseen enemy arouses your own protective instincts.

All creatures, human and non human, love their offspring and will defend them to the death if necessary.

All the while, your heart aches for the frightened cub who turns to the only safety he has.....his Mother.

Yes, art is personal. What you love may not be what I love.

But art also has universal appeal, because it taps into our most primal human instincts.

This exquisite carving has the mandatory perfect technical qualities we have come to expect from Paul Maliki.
Dazzling white marble. Meticulous detail....
It can take Paul 6 months or more to carve a single sculpture.

But this sculpture also demands our heart.
We feel a bond with these bears.
We hope that this time the unseen predator will be defeated.

Paul Maliki is one of only a few Inuit Master Carvers.

He is a Canadian treasure whose artistic ability is legendary.

I believe that one day this Bear and Cub will find their way into a Museum displayed as the penultimate sculpture carved by the great Inuit carver Paul Maliki.

Every complete Inuit art collection must feature a Paul Maliki bear.

Is this your moment?
