In this enigmatic work, Hanna achieves the spirit of the Sea Shaaman through delicate balance, crisp lines and an overall fluidity that sparks an overall electric vibrancy.
As per Inuit folklore, this is the Sedna of the Sea. She overlooks her sea creature children from the punitive and stark elements of the Northern sea.
Angular, quietly expressive in movement as well as in facial features, contemplative – these are all typical attributes of Hanna’s work.
Bart Hanna is in a small elite circle of premier master Inuit carvers. He commissioned a beautiful masterpiece carving to the museum of Inuit art in Winnipeg, MB.
This piece is very unique, sophisticated and just simply gorgeous.
