It is difficult not to be gobsmacked by the sheer beauty of this sculpture. It is not simply that this bird was carved with extraordinary skill and sensitivity; the artist who created this work bestowed on it not only a high degree of naturalism, he gave it the breath of life. The sculpture is a labour of love.
In this piece, the artist has synthesized the salient aspects of the muskox horn. The composition is not only charged with meaning, it is aesthetically pleasing as well. The bird's face is beautifully framed by the brilliant, electric and softly undulating plane of pinkish red muskox horn.
