This is a gorgeous rendition of a caribou and her calf. The sense of balance, crisp lines and coloration are punctuated by the inlaid eyes. This feature lends itself to a strengthened character and prodigious intensity.
This stunning caribou was carved by master Inuit carver Pavinak Petaulassie from the Inuit community Cape Dorset.
Pavinak is well known internationally for his caribous. This is his signature carving. I always liked caribou carvings because they are nice animals in general. The beautiful bone antlers contrast nicely with the dark green stone. It is a very positive subject and sends happy vibes to its surroundings.
The carving is signed by the artist on the bottom and also comes with an igloo tag (certificate of authenticity).
