Although Jimmy is best known for his incomparable Loon sculptures,  he carves scenes of daily Inuit life with precision, imagination and care.

The Kayak or Umiak, is a type of open skin boat originally used for transportation and hunting whale and walrus.

Our intrepid Inuk has had a very successful hunt!

His catch is lashed to the kayak, and we have caught him with harpoon held high ready to strike another unsuspecting seal.

In true Iqaluq style, Jimmy has added immaculate details throughout this piece.

Look at the complexity of our Inuk's face and the fur on his hood. The mitts are "embroidered". There are five separate bone pieces (paddle, harpoon etc) and three stone carvings separate from the kayak (the Inuk, and the two dead animals).

Jimmy keeps giving and giving, adorning this piece with layers of Inuit tradition.

This Kayak Inuit carving is a centerpiece for any Inuit art collection. You must have at least one Jimmy Iqaluq scene in your collection.

Jimmy is one of Canada's top five Master Carvers and has been a good friend of mine for decades.  Jimmy and I usually deal directly with each other for his masterpiece carvings. This carving is new and is astoundingly beautiful.
