Masterpiece BAKER LAKE Sculpture!  Magnificent Vintage Carving!

George Tataniq  (1910-1991) was instrumental in bringing fame to the Baker Lake carvers and their unique style.

The Baker Lake arists carve with the locally available BASALT stone, which is dark grey to black in colour.

Baker Lake sculptures traditionally have minimum detail because basalite stone is very hard and difficult to carve.

Contrary to the Baker Lake minimal style, George has presented us with a dramatic sculpture (POINTS OF VIEW) that evokes emotion and tells a compelling story.

Your "inner" art critic, will be captivated by the many faces (some of them cunningly hidden) and their expressions.

Tataniq has placed the strands of long hair between the faces,

The hair frames the faces beautifully and also allows the faces to claim their own real estate.

Points of Views is Vintage treasure.
