This pale yellow and apple green stone allows the viewer to see every powerful feature of Ottokie Ashoona"s 2 way Dancing bear.

But, what intrigues me is about this piece is that the upper body (from the waist up) is much larger than the lower body.

The head and neck are much longer than the bear's upper arms.

This gives the bear a cartoonish appeal but I believe this is a very serious carving.

With both arms held up in the air, I wonder?

Is he startled by a sudden noise?

Or is he dancing and jumping from foot to foot?

Ashoona's bears are always intriguing with a hidden story to tell.
